Cookie policy

This document is issued pursuant to articles 13 and 122 of Legislative Decree 196/2003 (Privacy Law), and the provisions of the general Regulations issued by the Privacy Guarantor on 8th May 2014, in order for the Data Controller, Electrica s.r.l., to provide users of the website electrica.it (hereinafter “website”), information about the cookies that are used.

2 - WHAT ARE COOKIES

Cookies are short strings of text that the site the user visits sends to their computer (usually to the browser), where they are stored and later retransmitted to the site the next time the same user visits it again. 3 - COOKIES TYPES

Cookies differ according to the purposes for which they are used, and are divided into two macro categories: technical cookies and profile cookies.

Technical Cookies

Technical cookies are only used to ”transmit a communication in a digital communications network, or to the extent strictly necessary for the provision of a service by the company of information expressly requested by the subscriber or user to receive the service” (ed. Art. 122(1) Privacy Law).

Profile Cookies

The profile cookies create user profiles and are used to send advertising messages pinpointed to the user’s preferences which are shown while browsing the web. Given the intrusive nature of these cookies into the user’s private life, European and Italian law requires that the user be adequately informed about their use and consequently express their consent or otherwise.

Third Party Cookies

To correctly define the question the further element of subjectivity has to be considered. i.e. consider the other subjects who install cookies in the user’s computer, whether it is the manager of the site the user is visiting (that can be briefly referred to as the “editor”) or a different site that installs cookies through the former site (so-called “third parties”).

Profile Cookies

Google Analytics 4 (IP anonymized)

Google Analytics is a statistics service provided by Google Ireland Limited ("Google"). Google uses the Personal Data collected for the purpose of tracking and examining the use of this Application, compiling reports and sharing them with other services developed by Google.
Google may use the Personal Data to contextualize and personalize the advertisements of its own advertising network. In Google Analytics 4, IP addresses are used at the time of collection and then deleted before the data is recorded in any data center or server. 5 - METHODS OF TREATMENT

The treatment is performed with automatic tools within the website. No disclosure or communication is performed.

6 - DATA SUPPLY

Apart from technical cookies, needed to allow normal navigation on the website, the user is responsible for cookie data supply by deciding to navigate the website after having read the short informative in the cookie banner and by deciding to use third party’s services that imply cookie usage.

7- HOW TO MANAGE OR DISABLE COOKIES

Most of available internet browsers (the browser is the software used to navigate websites) are by default automatically accepting cookies. The user can manage cookie settings directly within the browser by changing the configuration so that cookies are completely disabled or the user is notified anytime a website is trying to save a cookie on the device. Furthermore, after closing each navigation session all saved cookies can be erased from the device.

The user can prevent a website from using cookies for the aforementioned purposes. Also, all cookies can be erased at once by using the tools provided by the browser. Please, know that if all cookies are erased then some the of the functionalities provided by the website can no longer work properly.

If different devices are used to access the website (computers, smartphones, tablet, etc.) the user is accountable for properly managing cookie settings on each of these devices.

The user can navigate with cookies persistence temporarily disabled by using the incognito navigation mode (also called “private navigation” or “anonymous navigation”) available on all modern web browsers.
With this mode the browser, depending on the version, is not saving cookies or is just saving some cookie strictly needed to keep the website functional. Cookies are anyways erased when the browser window is closed.
Furthermore, in this mode all visited websites are not saved in browser history and all information entered in a form is not remembered.

8 - MODIFICATIONS AND UPDATES

Electrica can modify or simply update, even partly, the website Coockie policy also upon any modification of the law or of the rules that discipline the topic. Any Cookie policy modification or update will be notified to the users via the home page as soon as adopted and will be binding as soon as published on the website.

Therefore, Electrica advises to access regularly this section to check the publishing of a newer and up-to-date Cookie policy.
